GIMME MY MONKEY!

About GIMME MY MONKEY!

favourite Christmas music? Dec. 17th, 2009 @ 10:04 am

Albums, bands, specific songs?

I especially like tight vocal harmony and a mix of standard and non-standard songs. The Roches and the King's Singers Christmas albums are well-liked for these reasons. I prefer music with words, but if it's good instrumental, that's cool, too.

Over the weekend:

+ Reignited my love affair with torrents after discovering that I can use the PS3 to play video stored on my laptop with a mere toggle of the remote. L33T!
- Neglected to play Little Big Planet.
+ Watched, like, a season and a half of Burn Notice. Want to be a spy. Again.
+ Watched a few episodes of CSI. Don't really want to be a CSI; they have smelly jobs.
+ Purchased ingredients for meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
- Did not make meatloaf. Am lazy.
- Apparently, do not have a loaf-shaped pan in which to make meatloaf.
+ Completely flabbergasted the Mister by suggesting making meatloaf in a non-loaf-shaped casserole dish. Laughed mightily at his horror.
- Was vetoed on the unconventional loaf suggestion.
+ Wrapped all my presents.
- Except for the ones that have to be reshipped from the other side of the country, since they weren't addressed correctly and wound up getting returned to the store. Drat.
+ Finally got my NY driver's license in the mail.
- The picture is horrifyingly bad. Seriously, probably one of the worst photos I've ever taken. No, you may not see it.
- Have to live with it until 2014. 2014, people!! That's after the apocalypse! Do you know how much worse a post-apocalyptic driver's license photo is going to be?
- I listened to the Moldy Peaches once last week, on a morning commute, and I haven't been able to get them out of my goddamned head ever since. Their lyrics are like hookworms!

Happy birthday, Chinaman! Dec. 11th, 2009 @ 08:00 am

I hope it is extremely wonderful.

I will sing a little bit of 'There is a Ship' for you today!

I have blown my nose about a billionty times in the past couple of days. Alas.

In better news, we purchased a new backup blender since our primary blender bit the dust and we moved our old backup blender into primary position. But when we did so, we thought we'd try something new... so we got the Magic Bullet! Don't be fooled by their exorbitant website prices, you can get the ultra-delux so-many-pieces version at Costco for $40, and boy is it worth it! We wanted to try it, and it is so gosh-darned easy to make a smoothie in a cup and then drink it in the same cup and then toss that cup in the dishwasher and not have any mess to clean up. Also I made /and cooked/ cheesy scrambled eggs. In a blender cup. Let that blow your mind for a minute while I blow my nose again.

I foresee many purchases and freezings of bananas in the future. I recommend this product without reservation after less than a week of ownership.

This weekend was sort of an odd duck. There were events, but they were all later in the day. On Saturday, our quintet played at Old Economy, which was fun but took up a lot of the day, and on Sunday, we went to see Nora perform at her Christmas concert. She sang a solo and did really wonderfully, and in general, I enjoyed it. John and I drove up with Barb and Ted, and we sang Christmas carols in the car, and that was wonderful.

Also on Sunday, I became a Daedric prince. So... there's that! I have to say that I have honestly enjoyed the Tribunal storyline the most of any of the Elder Scrolls storylines so far... but I haven't beaten the main Oblivion storyline yet, so we'll see. I was kind of a bad person as I ignored the people coming over to see the football game in order to play Oblivion. Finally, I reached level 100 in sneak and am now the masterest master of it. I wish I were a journeyman armourer so I could wear my dark brotherhood armour and repair it when it gets broken :) ADDITIONALLY, Cutter is my favourite smith in the game. I will go back to her for madness arrows any day. And I am awesome in the Arena.

My work's Christmas party was on Friday, and it was fun! I wore enormously tall shoes and apparently succeeded in dressing myself, for once! A small boy loved me! Later, we all played Rockband to the max on the giant videoconferencing TV! Steve gave me a miniature Christmas tree which is really excellent! I have decorated it with tiny ornaments!

Last night after dance class, I still felt productive, so I started trying to wrap things... but Mark put my scissors and tape somewhere, so I just got them ready to wrap instead. Oh well. Another day.

Another sniffle.
